It's official! On May 5, 2025 Microsoft ended Skype for good the go-to services for calls and messaging around the world.
The question is what now? I am here to provide alternatives to Skype if you were using the service for international phone calls and messaging.
Viber Out - This VoIP services offers worldwide calling to 57 countries for $5.99/month. You can get started with a one week free trial.
Rebtel - This VoIP services has more options to find a plan that fits best for you than Viber Out. It also has a worldwide calling plan to 50 countries for $12/month.
Zoom Phone - Check out the Global Select plan for $20/month. A pricier but more complete solution for businesses.
WhatsApp - Download the app for personal or business calls. This is extremely popular throughout the world particularly for businesses in Argentina where I live abroad. Keep in mind this services will not allow you to make phone calls to non-WhatsApp users.
